Life at work..

I am sitting on my bum, staring at the people munching away and chatting. Kids are watching TV some are crying. My mind is empty. Nothing came into mind at the moment.*ponder...ponder harder… * nope nothing came into mind. I looked up to the yellowish old TV. Everything on the screen seems so vintage, gives a vague impression and dim. Fortunately, the volume is still in good pitch. I am thinking to switch the channel. No someone is watching. *Sigh*

Again I return to gaze at customer’s food. My eye lids starting to get heavy. Shit! They saw me. I got to pretend that there is something in my eyes. * Rubbing my eyes, walk a bit shakes my body a little.

“Siti” I exclaimed. I can’t stand no more. “Please Please ice kopi satu”. Hoping coffee to safe my day which didn’t help much.

NEW YORK - APRIL 23: Host of "Bizarre Foo...Image by Getty Images via Daylife

Finally, I change my channel don’t give a damn no more. Turn to Travel and Living, my first and foremost channel which I have a habit to tune to. Andrew Zimmern from Food Bizzare is tasting the mites and ants. Geee I think I better switched the channel, people are dining in here. I don’t want to make the whole place look like a China slaughtered game eatery.

*Sigh* I look at my fingers, glance at the clock hanging behind me. Pondering I am off tomorrow, so what am I going to do. Facial and body massage would be a good blend to rejuvenate my friggin week. May be then I will take Liam for a grooming then to the vet for his vaccination. Hmm I want to do some shopping also. Hope I have sufficient time.

Clock is still clicking…. Half an hour to go ...HOME!!!

Colin the Aborigine - Joke of the day

A rich man living in Darwin decided that he wanted to throw a party

And invited all of his buddies and neighbours. He also invited Colin,

The only aborigine in the neighbourhood.

He held the party around the pool in the backyard of his mansion.

Everyone was having a good time drinking, dancing, eating prawns,

Oysters and BBQ and Flirting..

At the height of the party, the host said, 'I have a 15ft man-eating

Crocodile in my pool and I'll give a million dollars to anyone who

Has the balls to jump in.'

The words were barely out of his mouth when there was a loud splash

And everyone turned around and saw Colin in the pool fighting the croc,

Jabbing the croc in the eyes with his thumbs, throwing punches, doing

All kinds of Stuff like head butts and chokeholds, biting the croc on the

Tail and flipping the croc through the air like some kind of Judo

Instructor.

The water was churning and splashing everywhere.. Both Colin and the

Croc were screaming and raising hell.

Finally Colin strangled the croc and let it float to the top like a dead

Goldfish.

Colin then slowly climbed out of the pool.

Everybody was just staring at him in disbelief.

The host says, 'Well, Colin, I reckon I owe you a million dollars.'

'Nah, you all right boss, I don't want it,' said Colin.

The rich man said, 'Man, I have to give you something. You won the bet.

How about half a million bucks then?'

'No thanks. I don't want it,' answered Colin.

The host said, 'Come on, I insist on giving you something. That was

Amazing.

How about a new Porsche and a Rolex and some stock options?

Again, Colin said “No.”

Confused, the rich man asked, 'Well Colin, then what do you want?

Colin said,

'I want the bastard who pushed Me in.'

Once upon a time .. flying

I was born in Penang grew up in Tawau. We ‘migrated” to Tawau when I was 3 years of age. My whole family was kinda frequent flyer. We will fly back to Penang every single year. I remembered during my childhood, I travel along with my mom to Penang few months before giving birth to my brother and sister. During those days, air fare was not cheap. Air fare could almost reached RM 1000++ per person for only one way (I was a kid so cheaper la) by Malaysia Airlines , the one and only pioneering Airline in Malaysia at those days. We would fly through a very dreadful long haul flight from Tawau – Kota KinabaluKuala Lumpur- Penang just to return to our homey hometown. It was pain in the ass. There was no such thing as direct flight during that period. We have to transit every each of the airports for couple of hours. It almost took a day just to fly back to Penang.

Whilst, flying back from Penang we will have to stay overnight in the airport of Kota Kinabalu. That was the nightmare we would never disregard. It was totally horrible. We usually reached Kota Kinabalu in the middle of the night then only to catch a flight back to Tawau at dawn the next day. Throughout that time, there were not much frequent flights flying from Kota Kinabalu to Tawau. If I am not mistaken it was about twice a day, one in the wee morning another in the evening.

We have to halt in Kota Kinabalu for almost 5 hours. So there is no point to stay over in a hotel for that short period. We waited in the airport restaurant. Mom will carry my sister. I will sleep at a hard wooden seat. Dad will be attending of our luggages and taking care of my brother. Traveling with kids is ain’t easy. The airport was humid; there were no air condition at the arrival hall. It was a total disaster. We sweat we had body ache. Not to mention the whole day of flying, we pretty much need to shower!

Years gone by, more flights were scheduled. Direct flights have been bestowed. Airport has been modified and refurbished. It wasn’t as bad as before. The era has change. Come to think again, I have not been traveling with my family for years. Yes, it was a terrible to sit at the airport doing nothing for hours but I miss the feeling, the warm spirit of a family being together, being there taking care and looking after each other. A flying memoir I will never disregard.

Readers are not interested in personal life’s blog. It has been proven that readers are more enthusiasts on interests and hobbies blog such as culinary, pets, travel and etc. *sigh* so is my mere life is too blasé to read?

Movie maker , Yasmin Ahmad passed away

R.I.P. Yasmin AhmadImage by xiangxi via Flickr

Today we have lost a talented producers / director. Those of you who don’t know who Yasmin Ahmad is, she was a renowned director for the movie Sepet and her latest movie Talent Time, she produced the emotional profound Petronas advertisement which we usually encounter during the festive seasons. She was famed for her advertisements and films capturing the essence of racial harmony in Malaysia. I have never disappointed with her advertisement. Her advertisement consistently is filled with passion and attention. I don’t think people will fail to acknowledge her advertisement.

She suffered from stroked and collapsed in Bandar Utama Studio last Friday and was admitted to Damansara Hospital immediately pursued with 2 brain surgeries. Yasmin Ahmad died from massive bleeding in the brain at the Damansara Specialist Hospital today.

RIP.

My heart.

Animation of a normal ECG wave.Image via Wikipedia

Been having chest pain these few days, today it got worse. I recalled my doctor saying that I have a high level of cholesterol that I need to aware of. Trying my effort to control the food intake but it ain’t easy. I was petrified and nervous when all of a sudden my chest starts to hurt more. The pain came on and off. It has boggled my mind the whole afternoon. I was so afraid that I might die at work or at sleep. I thought to my self may be if the pain go away I will go for a check up the next morning or may be I will just leave it behind.

By the evening I can’t bare the persist pain. I told my husband about my chest pain that if it’s just muscle pain or something. He then insists me to go to Hospital for a check up. My heart beats more rapidly when I reached the hospital ER. I was nervous.

As soon as I arrived at the ER room, I noticed the hospital staffs are all covered with mask which induced me more nervous. I was like shit I totally forgot my mask! I have not keeping my self safe. No prevention and precaution for me to fight against any dangerous killer germs or bacteria that might be transmitting airborne.

The nurse usher me to a seat, checked my temperature and my blood pressure. Then I was called for my turn to see the doctor. Doctor her self was wearing a mask. I can only observe her spectacles and eyes. She had her “tudung” on. I felt like I was talking to a ninja master or something. I told her about my chest pain, she told me that my blood pressure is fine and to counter check and affirm me, I was asked to do an ECG test.

A nurse helped me lay down on a bed. I was half top naked. The ECG machine’s tentacles look a like part was placed on my chest area. After 10 minutes a result graph of my heart beat rates was produce. Doctor exclaimed to me that my heart is in perfect condition and is very healthy. I was so relief when she said that. I can see my husband smile at me. He was sitting at the corner of the examine room, accompanying me all the time. I double checked with the doctor if there might be other reasons that causes my chest pain. She told me it might because of muscle traction. What ever it is, I was so relief that it has got nothing to do with heart attack or failure.

I am glad and happy I have a healthy heart. I think it’s time for me to re-do my annual check up.

A bit of facts :-

There are other symptoms of an heart attack besides the pain on the left arm.

One must also be aware of an intense pain on the chin, as well as nausea and lots of sweating, however these symptoms may also occur less frequently.

Note: There may be no pain in the chest during a heart attack.
The majority of people (about 60%) who had a heart attack during their sleep, did not wake up. However, if it occurs, the chest pain may wake you up from your deep sleep.

If that happens, immediately dissolve
two aspirins in your mouth and swallow them with a bit of water.

Afterwards

- phone a neighbor or a family member who lives very close by
- say "heart attack!"
- say that you have taken 2 aspirins.
- take a seat on a chair or sofa near the front door, and wait for their arrival and..
~ do NOT lie down ~
~try to cough as hard as you can.

Vol 2.Transportation in Bangkok

After hubby’s office hour, we usually linger around in Bangkok. We would travel either via the BTS Sky train, MRT sky train or by a taxi. Taxi is not expensive in Bangkok; bare in mind make sure the taxi driver is using the meter before you hop onto it. Taxi meter will display 35 Baht for a start then subsequently add 3 Bhat after a meter or something. To avoid time wasting, we usually opt to get to a destination by sky train then only to return home by a taxi. I don’t take “tuk-tuk”, the main reason is its life-threatening, and you should see how the driver drives when they turn in to a junction. It’s like drifting in Initial D. Secondly, price are hardly negotiated. They are the only one to call the price. Traveling by “tuk-tuk” usually will end up costing more than a regular taxi. Remember to agree upon a price beforehand, if possible, if there is no other way to get a taxi. Most “tuk –tuk” drivers don't speak English and I do find them a bit rude. Motor taxi is always convenience when roads are highly congested. In Kuala Lumpur, we have 2 times of peak hours daily which cause traffic jam but not in Bangkok. Bangkok is always congested. Motorcycle taxi driver can be recognized with their colored vest. Vests are colored for area code.

Water taxi of Chao Phraya Canal

Water taxi or
Chao Phraya boat are used to travel across the river or to different pier ahead. A boat ride can cost as cheap as 20 cent per ride while tourist boats can cost up to RM 200 per person just to tour the river in less than 45 minutes. I have tried to cross to Wat Arun from Chang Pier which only cost less than 50 cents via the local boats which was interesting.

Behind - Long tail tourist boat RM200 per person.

I suggest that plan your route ahead to avoid un necessary circumstances.

Vol 1. Introduction - Bangkok

Rampaging anti-government protesters forced the closure of Thailand's main international airport, Suvarnabhumi Airport. Politics issue which causes topsy-turvydom to the Thai citizen and the Prime Minister was switched every 3 months. It was insane and demented.

Bangkok International Airport - Departure Hall

It all occurred last year. I was there for almost 6 months in Bangkok as my hubby was transferred to work in Bangkok for a year. It’s was a once in a life time opportunity for us to be based in a foreign country. We dwelt in a studio apartment in the metropolis. Public transportation and facilities are seen in every inch of the area I live. Flag a hand, getting in a taxi, “tuk-tuk”, a three wheel motorcycle with a carriage at the back, or a motorcycle taxi is as easy as ABC. Hawker stalls, small shop selling Thai foods, convenience store are scattered everywhere. I am never hungry living in Bangkok. When a weird dainty delicacy attracts my attention I will halt and give it a go.

A Thai style BBQ fish at a hawker.

Me roaming and riding on a water taxi.

I was concern about the political issue in Bangkok. I did witness a demonstration from Thaksin’s supporter. I remember wearing yellow when the protesters dressed themselves all in red. No harm was done to me while walking by the demonstration. Taking heed to the discouraging news has demoralized my faith and trust living in Bangkok. Yet to an extent, I believe that the news has exaggerated quite a bit to make it BIG, scaring visitors and tourists. I can assure that it was safe enough to roam in the city. I did that while hubby was busy with his work. I am so smitten with the city. No matter what happens to that country I love the people, the mouth-watering cuisine and the culture of Thailand.

Continue……Protesters in red.

beng Hock's final journey home -

Just to share a bit, recently, I have been looking at the hapless pictures of the late Teoh Beng Hock. The pictures it self have spoken thousands words. The grieve ness, deplorable news and his family who is devastated of his death. I my self wept feeling emotional. It’s a tragic. We'll never know what is going to happen the next second. It’s a weird circumstance where it takes time to comprehend. May he rest in peace.

I would like to share this Final Journey of late Teoh Beng Hock- via You tube. A site where I found stated in China Press.

I dono how to read Chinese...

I am Chinese wording illiterate. I can only understand and write few Chinese words. I choose to only learn some words that I am interested with. For instance, I love durian. 我爱吃 Durian. I do not read Chinese but I love browsing Tawau, Morning Post and China Press for which I only stare at interesting pictures.

Browsing Morning Post is to divulge ‘8 poh” news. It is astonishing to discover shocking pictures of a familiar human face. Just a short info, I came from a small town, recognizing familiar faces from a small town aren’t that complicated. I could recognize someone that could be your family members, relatives, neighbors, friend’s family, friends; friend, regard it as a 60 degree friends circle. I take it as an “eating-too-full-nothing-to-do” hobby; to identify who is getting married by the end of this week, who became a mistress, or a young adolescent marriage or who had just graduate from a notorious abroad University. Tawau citizen loves to publicize graduation. Whenever any “Ah kow” or “Ah Lian” graduated from a couple of hundred thousand ringgit school fees University, you will see them wearing their black Dracula gown, and a child's handmade square 20 x 20 cardboard hat alike thingy holding on an empty toilet roll core, cylinder scroll on a black and white print, which sometimes come in pink in the newspaper. Undoubtedly the graduates feel ego, conceited and pride. Who doesn’t? Imagine you see yourself publicize on a page in the newspaper holding your expensive empty toilet rolls core cylindrical.

China Press, I find it quite enlightening with the attached pictures. I am in to reading materials with full of pictures and illustrations. Sports section in China Press lately shown Manchester United played in Bukit Jalil. The news has proved the success of it's illustrations. Owen is as clear as wacthing himm live from the field. Ahemmm hahha. I do not need to understand any of the printed words, the picture tells the story. In my opinion, I don't care if I can't read Chinese, as long as I can speak I think it's good enough and is a must for newspapers with pictures. :)

"Hun Teng"aka Genting

Genting Highlands HotelImage via Wikipedia

I went to Genting Highland last Saturday. The main aim for this jaunt is to accomplish one agitating task of mine. I discern what is running in your mind now. Give a guess. I do consider myself as a regular patron. This place I call is always packed. Sometimes I have to squeeze my self in only to see what the outcome is. Have I given enough hints?

My task was to eat buffet in Terrace Coffee House in Genting Hotel. I am a regular patron. Hubby and I sometimes drive up the hill just for the meal. I know it sounds like there ain’t anything else to eat in KL and we have opted to drive up that one hour hill just to eat the buffet. Reasons, I love the food they serve. The ambience, the service entirely is very proficient. The food is worthwhile. Price is at Rm60++. World card points can be redeeming. Last but not least, it’s cold also mah ….

It was quite disappointed that I did not get to have my meals that day. I was extremely super TULAN. They were close for Ala Carte at the time we reached. I was so irate. I went up with an empty stomach and no buffet was served I was truly thwarted. If only I did make a call for reservation or inquiry before I started my journey. End up we went to a café eating Kuey Teow and Roasted meat rice. Siao right? The purpose of this trip has lost its meaning.

So you must think I went back home without doubt. It’s silly to do that. One last thing I got to do is to try my luck before I leave what. True or not?….. So did I win? Of course la . You want to know how much? Not much lah but yes I am contented that I can still purchase things I enjoy with that cold hard cash. The money is enough for me to buy only 1 “Kopi Ping”. So have to share with hubby pula.

When dogs bark about them selves....

Hi everyone. I am Faye's son, PEDRO! *bark* *panting* * OK no one is watching , I got to make this fast. The one standing on the left is my mom. I am the one standing in the middle. Dad, Liam is the one on the right in the photo. Catherine, yup that is my owner /grandma. She has never quite actually introduce me yet. Finally, I get my opportunity to bark about myself. * drooling* My mom is pretty, doesn't she? She often cleans me even though I am already 1 year old. *grrrrr..* She will lick my face and *yucks...I am so hating it. That is so embarrassing when my owner is looking at me. I had just celebrated my first birthday on the 15th July 2009. I got cookies for my birthday.

This is me when I am cleaned and groomed. I know I have my mom's feature and my dad's eye. *shy* Handsome and cute right. Bitches are all over me when I went out the other day. I was tired with all the chasing. Luckily I stayed behind the bars later that. * wooofff*
Damn, I love to eat . I love it when grandma cooks me steam chicken breast with carrots. I chomp everything that is edible. I even have my own eating time record. I can eat 2 scoops of large bites dog food in less than 30 seconds. Yes , I know! I am fast! "GENG! " Perhaps, I should have a competition with other dogs. Practice makes perfect. I got to maintain that stamina don't I. *woooffff*

I guess I got to *bark* off now. I got to stop this before grandma sees me using her lap top. Hey this is a secret between you and me. If grandma find this I 'll be punished. Yet , *pssst.... I don't want to traumatised her. A dog typing on keyboards? Who is going to believe ??? Will write more as soon she is not around. Till than Barky bye! Check out the blog how I was born!
